One of the many reasons autumn is one of my favorite times of year is because you can dress in light layers without feeling HUUUGE (in the Trump voice, obvi).
There is a small window of time when a proper coat isn’t totally necessary. That’s when I like to fake it with an oversized cardigan, also known as the Coatigan.
It doubles for style and warmth and to be quite honest, kind of reminds me of my bath robe.
What’s not to love?
Pair it with your favorite distressed denim and you’re all set. Plus if you’ve got a lot of running around to do, it’s comfy and fuss-free (especially for you moms reading). 🙂
How’s Fall where you are?
The trees have changed colors here, it’s absolutely gorgeous. I didn’t grow up in a place where the leaves properly turn into fall colors (see Texas seasons: Hot & HOTTER), so every year around this time I am still amazed at the pretty hues around me.
You can find your fall must have Coatigan at (size up if you want it to be more oversized):
Zara (mine is from last year)
Shop it, Like it, Pin it.
I’m going to keep this post short and simple:
if there is something you really ‘need’ this season it’s a pleated skirt.
It is flattering on every body type (and before the petite crowd tells me otherwise, rest assured this skirt comes in various lengths). 🙂
What I love about this skirt is that is very trendy, yet ladylike and can be paired easily with various shoes/booties/sneakers.
BONUS: it can be worn with tights or bare legs (for those of you still enjoying weather in the upper 80’s).
How To Wear:
What style suits you best?
If you consider your style Sporty:
Pair it with a fitted sweatshirt + your favorite sneakers
If you’re into a more Ladylike vibe:
Wear it with your favorite blouse + heels
If you’re uber Trendy:
Throw on your favorite mockneck or oversized sweater and wear it with some menswear inspired flats or booties.
…or if you want to, try all 3!

Alright, it is officially fall in the land of the Dutch.
It’s getting darker earlier (goodbye summer days when the sun sets at 10:30 pm), the mornings are chilly (and by chilly I mean bare legs are out of the question), and pumpkin-flavored everything sounds good right about now.
I found this soft, cozy, oversized sweater at the Mecca of fast fashion (Zara, in case you weren’t sure). It comes in other colors, but this deep forest green compliments my complexion the best. If you’re anything like me and have an issue with itchy sweaters, then I can assure you, this one is SO far from it.
I love the tie details around the wrists, which give it just enough chic, while you actually feel like you are wearing an oversized sweater you borrowed from the man in your life. Pair it with some wedge booties and your favorite pair of jeans… what’s not to love?
So go on and cozy up.
