The thing about being a 20-something young professional is that time seems to fly by on the one hand but somehow drag on at the same time. One minute you’ve graduated college and started a career, and somewhere along the way you find yourself talking about life-altering decisions. I’ve just started a new job and I can tell you that it wasn’t an easy decision to leave my old job. I took some time to think it over, and ultimately decided it was time to move on. Looking back, it was a season.
So often we forget to be ‘present’. It may sound cliche, but when was the last time you looked around and really thought ‘I will never get this time in my life back again’?
Because at the end of the day, the way your life looks now, whether that be busy, quiet, rushed, stressful, exciting, frustrating or a little bit of everything – it will only be this way for a season.
So try to enjoy the moments that you feel frustrated or the moments when your life may feel ‘quiet’ while the world is spinning around you, because at some point you will look back and wish you would have cherished it more. It is so easy to focus on all the things that are ‘going wrong’ in your life – but what about the things that are going right? If you don’t have kids yet, how easy is it to just decide to go out for dinner at a moment’s notice? Or perhaps your life has a very ‘predictable’ routine, but doesn’t that bring so much security? Whatever it may be, it is a season – ENJOY it.
Until next time…
